I believe in God…
First and foremost Christians believe in God. God is the first being in the Trinity.
The first four words of the Bible in most translations are “In the beginning God…” (Genesis 1:1a) This is perhaps the most basic concept in the entire Bible. In the beginning nothing existed but God.
In Exodus 3:14 Moses asked God for his name. The name God gave to Moses is “I AM.” Before we can understand anything else about God we have to believe that he exists. In the original language these words imply I AM now, I always was, and I always will be
Hebrews 11:6 says “and it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” (NLT)
Our belief in God is paramount to having faith in him. God does not accept wishy-washy faith. Either we believe in him or we don’t.
If you have problems accepting the reality of God, I urge you to ask him to make himself known to you. Jeremiah 29:13 promises, “You will seek me and find me if you seek with all your heart.”
