I believe in God, THE FATHER…
God presents himself to us as our Father. Isaiah wrote “And yet, O Lord, you are our Father.” (Isaiah 64:8a NLT)
Psalm 68:5a identifies God as “Father to the Fatherless…” This implies orphans and anyone abandoned or estranged from their earthly fathers. God is our perfect Father in this fallen world.
When the Disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, the model prayer he gave them began with the words, “Our Father who art in heaven…”
Romans 8:15b explains it more completely saying, “…you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, ‘Abba father.'”
For those blessed with godly earthly fathers, knowing God as our Father is a welcome reality. Sadly, there are those whose earthly fathers have left much to be desired in this fallen world. But our Heavenly Father is the only perfect Father, and his love for us, his children, is perfect. Seek to know your heavenly Abba Father and find out how beautiful and trustworthy this relationship can be.
