1 Samuel 4-24

• The ark of the covenant captured by Philistines, then returned
• Samuel serves Israel as judge, but the people demanded a king.
• Samuel anointed Saul as king and the people rejoiced
• Saul failed to follow Samuel’s directives as given by God.
• Samuel anoints David as king, though his crowning would happen much later
• David & Goliath
• David and Jonathan became best friends
• Saul becomes jealous of David’s successes in battle and the people’s praise of David
• David and his followers on the run, pursued by Saul
• David was loyal to Saul, could have killed him in a cave but spared his life.
