1 Samuel 4-24
- The ark of the covenant captured by Philistines, then returned
- Samuel serves Israel as judge, but the people demanded a king.
- Samuel anointed Saul as king and the people rejoiced
- Saul failed to follow Samuel’s directives as given by God.
- Samuel anoints David as king, though his crowning would happen much later
- David & Goliath
- David and Jonathan became best friends
- Saul becomes jealous of David’s successes in battle and the people’s praise of David
- David and his followers on the run, pursued by Saul
- David was loyal to Saul, could have killed him in a cave but spared his life.
