Brief overview of the passages for this week:
Romans 11-15
- God did not abandon the Jews when he extended his mercy to the Gentiles
- Christians should offer their bodies as living sacrifices to God by living holy lives for him.
- Spiritual gifts – the body of Christ has many members with different gifts.
- Love sincerely, even those who persecute you.
- Respect authority
- Clothe yourself with Christ’s presence and avoid indulging in evil desires
Acts 20-28
- Paul continues his third missionary journey in Macedonia, Greece, and Troas.
- Young man falls asleep in window listening to Paul preach all night, and falls three stories to the ground. Paul revives him.
- Paul’s last visit and farewell with the Ephesian leaders.
- Paul’s arrest in Jerusalem
- Paul appears before the High Council.
- Plot to have Paul killed intervened by the Roman commander who escorted him to Caesarea in the middle of the night accompanied by soldiers and mounted troops.
- Paul appears before Felix, Festus, and Agrippa. None found fault with him. Paul appeals to Caesar in Rome.
- Paul sails for Rome as a prisoner, and becomes shipwrecked on the Island of Malta.

Colossians
- Paul wrote this letter while a prisoner in Rome to the Gentile Christian church at Colosse, a city located in what is now known as Turkey.
- Concerns over false teachers, especially teaching the worship of angels and encouraging them to take on Jewish customs.
Philemon
- Paul’s letter written to Philemon while a prisoner in Rome.
- Paul is returning Philemon’s run-away slave, Onesimus, to him asking Philemon to accept Onesimus as a brother and not as a criminal.
Ephesians
- Paul’s letter to Ephesus, written while a prisoner in Rome. Includes several themes . . .
- Paul’s prayer for Spiritual wisdom for the Ephesians – a great model prayer for us to pray over one another.
