Luke
Those who began the “5x5x5 New Testament Bible Reading Plan” by Navigators in January will begin reading the book of Luke on about June 29.
The author of the gospel of Luke is presumed to be Luke, a physician who traveled with Paul on many of his missions and who also wrote the book of Acts. It is addressed to Theophilus, likely a Christian dignitary of one kind or another who would see to it that the writing would be distributed among other believers. Luke was likely a Greek Gentile. His gospel is similar to Matthew and Mark in many ways, but Luke also did his own research and includes material not in either Matthew or Mark. The most popular record of the birth of Christ is found in Luke.
