…Jesus Christ, his only Son
Almost everyone who has ever been to church more than a few Sundays has learned the Bible passage John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV) This verse declares Jesus’ Sonship to God, the Father.
God, himself, first declared Jesus’ son-ship at Jesus’ baptism. Read Matthew 3:17 – “And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’”
Even the demons recognized Jesus as the Son of God. Read Matthew 8:29. As Jesus approached two demon possessed men, they responded, “ ‘What do you want with us, Son of God?’ they shouted. ‘Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?’”
When Jesus walked on water and Peter started to walk to him on the water, the people in the boat declared that Jesus must be the Son of God. See Matthew 14:33.
When Jesus was on the mountain top with Moses and Elijah, God spoke saying “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” See Matthew 17:1-5.
The Centurian who oversaw the crucifixion and saw how Jesus died exclaimed “Surely this man was the Son of God!” See Mark 15:33-39.
