Brief overview of the passages for this week:
2 Timothy
Paul’s second letter to Timothy was written from prison in Rome. Paul encouraged Timothy with more guidance in his role in ministry. He also urged Timothy to come to Rome to help him there.
2 Peter
Peter’s second letter to the Christians in northern Asia Minor advised them on how to recognize and deal with false teachers. Peter again reminds the people to live holy lives.
Jude
Jude was a brother of Jesus. He wrote about the danger of following false teachers who would lead them into sin.
1 John
Written by the Disciple/Apostle John to warn Christians about false teachers who were trying to mislead them. He encouraged Christians to stay strong in their faith and to love one another and obey God’s commands.
2 John
Written by John to “the chosen lady and her children.” This could have been to a specific lady or to a church and its members. He emphasizes the importance of believing that Jesus is God’s son.
3 John
John wrote this letter to Gaius to help him deal with a matter in the church with an uncooperative man.
Revelation
Written by the apostle John when he was exiled on the island of Patmos. Too much to try to summarize in a couple of sentences, John shares his God-given vision about the churches, the future, and the end times.
